Biographical Profile
I’m visually impaired by birth. I suffer from retinitis pigmentosa, which is a group of rare, genetic disorders that affect the light sensitive parts of the eye. As a child, I could see some vague images but has ever since been progressing towards total blindness.
I’m a Pakistani jurist. I took my oath on June 26, 2018 and became the first ever visually challenged Civil Judge and has a streak of distinctions to my credit. I did my Matriculation from Aziz Jehan Begum Trust Institute for the blind and Intermediate from Government College University, Lahore in summa cum laude. I received a gold medal from the University of the Punjab, where I studied B.A LL.B (Hons.) and graduated in 2014, securing 3.95 CGPA. In 2018, I topped the written judicial examination held for the recruitment of Civil judges-cum-Judicial Magistrates for the province of Punjab in which a total of 6,500 candidates appeared.
After induction, I successfully completed the pre-service training course at Punjab Judicial Academy, organized for the recent inductees and secured the top slot there too. I went on to top the departmental exams as well. Later on, after my appointment, I was highly appreciated for my expeditious disposal of cases, pending adjudication.
